Overnight filling starts on the fifteenth, glass goes off the island at the end of the month, and the night hours are unchanged and will be enforced.
The busy weeks begin shortly and these are the arrangements for them. Nothing here is new, and all of it was agreed at open meetings, but the season turns over a third of the guesthouse staff and the reminder is worth the page.
Water. From the fifteenth, guesthouses fill their own tanks between midnight and five in the morning rather than during the day. The household draw in those hours is almost nothing and the plant keeps up. The day's production and the previous day's draw go on the board outside the office every morning in large figures, so you can see the position rather than take our word for it. If your reading of that board worries you, come and ask.
Glass. The crates are out again from Sunday and glass is collected from guesthouses on Monday mornings, crated and not bagged. There are one hundred and forty crates and in February that is not enough, which we admit freely and are working on. The shipment off the island goes at the end of this month and again in eight weeks. Please do not leave bottles in bags on the road: they break, and the road is walked on by children.
Night hours. Outdoor music stops at eleven. Nothing on the beach after eleven. Boats do not load between nine at night and six in the morning. Generators in enclosures. These are the same hours as last season and the season before, and every complaint received will be telephoned through the same night.
Staff letters. Guesthouses taking on seasonal staff who need an address letter should send the note from the property with the person rather than after them, which saves a second trip to the counter. The letter confirms the address a person is living at and nothing more.
The visitor desk at the jetty goes to seven in the evening from the fifteenth, every day including Friday. Cards for the rooms in four languages are free at the office, and we would rather you took fifty than ran out in the third week.
