What it costs
450.00 Per booking
The figure on the booking form is the call charge, and it covers the tradesman coming to you and the first hour of work. It is paid at the end of the visit, in cash or by transfer, against a numbered docket that lists what was done.
If the job turns out to need parts or more than an hour, the tradesman writes you a figure on the spot before buying anything or going any further. You are free to say no, pay the call charge and keep the written figure, and plenty of people do exactly that and get a second opinion.
Where a job is quoted and accepted, the call charge already paid comes off the quotation. You never pay twice for the same hour.
Parts are charged at what we paid for them and the receipt is stapled to your docket. We do not mark parts up, because a trade that marks up parts is a trade with a reason to fit the dearer one.
Doors and locks are their own trade and they are the visit people put off longest, usually because a door that sticks is survivable right up until it will not shut at all.
We rehang doors, plane and adjust them, replace hinges, fit and change cylinders and mortice locks, repair frames where the screws have pulled out, and adjust sliding window rollers and the aluminium runners they sit in.
Four hundred and fifty for ninety minutes. A lock cylinder is a part and is charged at what we paid with the receipt stapled on. We will not force or drill a lock without proof that the property is yours, and that includes when the person asking is upset.
