Nothing is paid on this website. You pay at the bench when the bike is done, in cash or by transfer to the number on the board.

The price you see on the booking form is the price on the board and the price you will be asked for. There is no charge for a bay, no charge for water and no charge for the polish we use. A bike that turns out to need more than the slot allows is quoted before we carry on, and you can say no and pay for what has been done.

Every visit earns a punch on a card we keep here under your registration number, so a lost card is not a lost punch. Ten punches on the same bike is a free wash and dry with chain clean, and the eleventh visit is where you spend it.

We do not take a deposit and we do not ask for a card number anywhere. If somebody telephones you claiming to be us and asks for either, it is not us.

For a bike that has lived within sight of the water, which on this island is every bike. Surface rust on chrome, bloomed fasteners, and the white powder that grows on aluminium are all treatable; pitting that has gone through is not.

We walk round the bike with you first and point at what will come back, what will improve and what is finished. That conversation is free and about one bike in five is sent away with the advice to spend the money on parts instead.

Two hours in the covered bay, seven hundred, one punch. It is worth doing once a year and it is not worth doing twice.
