Book a bay, sit on the bench, ride away dry
Washing that keeps the lance away from your bearings, chains done properly, and a punch on the card every visit.
Fifteen minutes or two hours
Three open bays for washing and one covered bay for polish and rust work.
Wash, dry and chain clean
Thirty minutes. The wash, plus the chain degreased and lubricated properly.
120.00 Per booking
Full detail
Ninety minutes in the covered bay. Wheels off the wash, plastics polished, seat treated.
450.00 Per booking
Four rules in the bay
A hand span, never closer
The lance stays away from bearings, switches, cables and the chain. Those are washed by hand.
Chains on four faces
Degreased, brushed underneath as well as on top, dried, then lubricated warm.
A punch every visit
Kept here under your registration number. Ten punches is a free wash with chain clean.
The slot is the slot
Fifteen minutes means fifteen. If your bike needs more we say so at the entrance.
What happens in each bay
Washing that does not push water where it should not go
Distance, angle and a mitt instead of a brush.
Chain care, done properly
Degreased, brushed on four sides, dried and lubricated warm.
The punch card
A punch a visit. Ten punches is a free wash with chain clean.
Four bays, one of them covered
Three open bays for washing, one covered bay for polish and detail.
Helmet and seat cleaning
Fifty a helmet while you wait, and the seat cleaned and fed.
Water, and where ours goes
Interceptors under every bay and a tank of collected rainwater for the rinse.
People on their second card
Monthly wash and chain clean for two years. First chain on the bike lasted eleven months, this one is on its twenty sixth and still in spec.
The pre sale clean and ten minutes at the white wall for photographs. Three people came to see it and the first one bought it at the asking price.
What gets asked at the bench
How long is the slot really
Exactly what it says. Fifteen minutes is fifteen minutes, and the bench is full of people whose slot is next, so running over is not a kindness to anybody.
If your bike needs longer we tell you when you roll in and offer you the next thing up, or a slot later the same session. We would rather turn a wash into a detail at the entrance than surprise you at the bench.
What if I am late
Ten minutes of grace, then the bay goes to whoever is waiting. There is almost always somebody waiting.
We will fit you in later the same session if there is a gap, at no extra charge. Telephone rather than ride over, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth coming.
Can I watch
Yes, and most people do. There is a bench with a roof over it facing all four bays and a fan on it.
What we ask is that you stay on the bench rather than in the bay. A pressure lance at working pressure will take skin off, and the floor is wet and soapy by design.
Will the pressure washer damage my bike
Not the way we use it. The lance never comes closer than a hand span, never points up into the underside, and never goes near a bearing, a cable end, a switch housing or the chain. Those areas are washed by hand.
This is the main reason a wash here takes longer than at a roadside round. If your switches have started sticking or a bearing has started grumbling after a cheap wash, that is usually what happened.
Can you get the rust off my chrome
Surface rust, yes, and often completely. Pitting that has gone through the plating, no, and nothing anybody sells will bring that back.
We walk round the bike with you before quoting and point at which is which. About one bike in five is told to spend the money on parts instead, and that advice costs nothing.
How does the punch card work and what does it cost
One punch for every paid visit, whatever you booked. Ten punches on the same bike earns a free wash, dry and chain clean.
The card is kept here under your registration number, so you cannot lose it. The punches belong to the bike rather than to you, so if you sell it the new owner inherits them. Payment is at the bench, in cash or by transfer, and nothing is taken on this website.
Bays open an hour ahead
Detail and rust work need a couple of days, because there is one covered bay.
