Questions we are asked often

Will this course get me the score I need

We will not put a number on it, and anybody who does is guessing with your money. Eighty hours of marked writing and recorded speaking moves most people a long way, and how far depends on where you start and what you do between sessions.

In week seven your teacher tells you honestly whether to sit the test on your booked date or move it, and that comes out of your marked work rather than out of how much of the course you have paid for.

Can you register me for the examination

No. We are not an examination centre and we have no part in the registration at all. You book the test yourself with whoever runs it, in your own name, and the office will show you what they ask for.

Book the test date before you enrol here if you can, or at least bring it to the interview, because the date decides which intake you should be on.

My departure date is close. Is it too late

Come to the interview and we will tell you plainly. Twenty minutes of it is your English and twenty is your plan, and the plan half is where this gets answered.

Once or twice a year the honest answer is that ten weeks will not be enough before you leave, and that the real choices are to move the date or take a course that gets you part of the way. We would much rather say that in a free interview than in week eight.

I work a rotation. How can I attend eight weeks

Every week of the hospitality course runs on three different days, and you attend whichever falls on a day off. That is the whole design and it is the only way anybody on a rotation finishes a course.

If you miss a week entirely, you pick it up in the matching week of the next intake at no charge. It is untidy for our office and it keeps people in the course.

My resort is paying. What will they see

Your attendance, as hours, on the sheet that goes with the monthly invoice. Nothing else.

Your written work, your interview notes and your assessment marks stay between you and your teacher. You are told this at enrolment with your manager in the room, on purpose, so that nobody finds out about the arrangement later.

Will you come and teach at the resort

For twelve people or more, at the property, in a real room with a door, yes. In a staff canteen, no, and not for a group of three.

Both were tried in the first two years. A class competing with an operational emergency loses every session, and the staff who lose the class are the ones who most needed it.
