What it costs

Nothing is paid on this website. You reserve a place on an intake and the office confirms it, usually within a day, with the level the placement test put you in written on the confirmation.

The course fee is paid by bank transfer to the account in that email, or in cash at the office outside the closed hours between noon and four. A receipt with your enrolment reference on it comes back once the money has arrived, and a place is held for five days from the confirmation.

A course may be paid in two halves, the second before week six. Employers paying for staff should ask the office for an invoice addressed to the company before the intake starts rather than after, because a receipt made out to a student is not something a finance department will accept later.

The placement test is free and there is nothing to pay for it whether or not you go on to enrol.

Five hours a week for twelve weeks, in a class capped at fourteen, at whichever of the six levels the placement test puts you in. Morning, late afternoon and evening intakes run at the same time so a working adult and a student can be on the same level in different rooms.

The levels are ours and we call them one to six rather than borrowing anybody else's labels. Level one starts at the alphabet and the present tense. Level six is a class of people who can already hold a conversation and are there for accuracy, writing and the things that stop somebody being taken seriously in an email.

Every level has the same shape: two hours of the new material, two hours of using it out loud, and an hour of writing that gets marked and handed back with corrections rather than a grade. The writing hour is the one students try to skip and the one that changes their English.

At the end there is an assessment, and a certificate for anybody who passed it and attended at least eighty percent of the hours. Below that and you get a letter stating the course and the hours you attended, which is an honest document and not the same one.
