What it costs

No charge Per booking

Nothing is paid on this website. You reserve a place on an intake and the office confirms it, usually within a day, with the level the placement test put you in written on the confirmation.

The course fee is paid by bank transfer to the account in that email, or in cash at the office outside the closed hours between noon and four. A receipt with your enrolment reference on it comes back once the money has arrived, and a place is held for five days from the confirmation.

A course may be paid in two halves, the second before week six. Employers paying for staff should ask the office for an invoice addressed to the company before the intake starts rather than after, because a receipt made out to a student is not something a finance department will accept later.

The placement test is free and there is nothing to pay for it whether or not you go on to enrol.

Forty five minutes at the institute: a written paper of about twenty five minutes, then fifteen minutes talking to an assessor, then the level. Free, and you are under no obligation to enrol at the end of it.

The talking half matters more than people expect. Plenty of people write well above where they speak, because school taught them to write, and putting somebody in a class that matches their paper leaves them silent for twelve weeks. The assessor is listening for what you can do under no pressure at all, which is why the fifteen minutes are deliberately unhurried and nobody is timed on an answer.

You are told your level on the day, out loud, with the reason. Sometimes the reason is that you are between two levels and then you are told which way we would go and why, and the decision is yours. Sometimes the answer is that the course you asked about needs something you do not have yet, such as reading the Arabic script, and we will say that rather than take a fee.

Booked against an assessor on the form. Ask for a female assessor on the booking if you would prefer one and the form will show you only her times.
