Questions we are asked often

Do I need a licence

Yes. A driving licence with a motorcycle entitlement, from any country, and we photograph it and delete the photograph when the machine comes back.

This is our insurance rather than our preference, so there is no way round it. An international permit on its own is not enough without the licence it refers to.

When exactly is it due back

A day runs to the same hour the next day rather than to midnight. Collect at two in the afternoon and it is due back at two the following afternoon.

That means an evening flight does not cost you an extra day. If you need an extra few hours on the last day, ask when you collect and it is usually free.

Can two of us ride one scooter

Yes, and two helmets come with every machine at no charge. The 125 is the better choice for two people, especially if you are carrying anything.

Three on a scooter is not something we will hire for, including two adults and a child. Take two machines or take a bicycle each.

What about the sandy track at the south end

It is soft for about two hundred metres and an automatic scooter will dig in and fall over, usually slowly and usually onto your leg.

Walk that section or take one of the three geared motorcycles, which have the tyres for it. The printed map that goes with every hire has both sandy sections marked.

Where do I fill up

The fuel shed by the harbour. It opens at seven and shuts at six and closes for prayers, and it is the only fuel on the island.

A full tank on a 110 is about ninety rufiyaa and lasts most people three days. Fuel to start is in the hire price and the tank does not have to come back full.

What if it breaks down

Telephone us. Somebody comes out anywhere on the island, usually within twenty minutes, in the working day.

Punctures, bulbs, chains and batteries are fixed on the spot at no charge. If we cannot fix it there we bring you a different machine and take that one home.
