What it costs

The figure you see is what the job costs when the phone is what we expect it to be. It is an estimate until the back is off and somebody has looked inside, and that is the honest way to put it: a screen that was dropped twice often has a frame behind it that is no longer flat, and nobody can see that from the outside.
So the order is always the same. We open it, we look, and then we ring you with the real figure before any part is fitted. If the real figure is more than you want to spend, we put it back together, charge you the bench fee only, and you take the phone away.
Payment is at the counter when you collect, in cash or by transfer. Your receipt carries the same job number as your booking.
The job we do most, and the only one we will promise to finish while you stand there.
An hour on bench one or bench two. The old glass and panel come off as one piece, the frame is checked with a straight edge, and a new panel goes on. You watch if you want to, and most people do.
The figure here is for a common flagship or one of the mid range models we keep glass for. Two things change it. If the frame behind the glass has been bent by an earlier drop, the new panel will not sit flat and we either straighten the frame or tell you it cannot be straightened; either way you hear the number before we go on. And if the panel for your model is not in the drawer, this becomes a booking for the day the part lands, not an hour today.
Ring before you come if your phone is older than about five years. We will tell you honestly whether glass for it still exists.
