KU Kurunmaa Finolhu Retreat Fourteen villas on a small island in Faafu Atoll
Faafu Atoll

Fourteen villas, one restaurant, and a reef you can swim to

A small island run by fourteen people. Choose your board basis, book the transfer with the room, and pay by transfer rather than on a card.

Villas and transfers

Choose the villa, then the board basis

Every rate on this page includes the board basis in its name, so there is nothing to work out afterwards.

What the island is

Fourteen villas

Six on the beach, five over the lagoon and three for families. No more are planned.

Our own dive centre

Two boat dives every morning and a house reef a hundred metres out.

Met at the airport

Somebody inside arrivals with your name on a card, who stays with you until you are on the boat.

Transfers on a timetable

Boat at half past ten and at four. Seaplane in daylight only, and we will say so.

What people write afterwards

Fourteen villas and one restaurant, and we never wanted a second one. The dinner menu changed every night and the fish was landed that morning.

A Anja W Germany

They told us before we booked that our flight landed too late for the seaplane. Nobody else we wrote to bothered to mention it.

P Peter and Helen United Kingdom

Two boat dives a morning for eight days and a house reef we could swim to in between. The briefings were the best I have had anywhere.

Before you book

The questions in every email

How do I actually get there

Fly into Malé, then either our speedboat, which takes about ninety minutes and leaves twice a day, or a seaplane, which takes twenty five minutes and flies in daylight only.

Send us your flight number when you book and we will put you on the right one. If your flight lands after dark the seaplane is not an option that day and you will need a night in Malé.

What if my flight is late and I miss the boat

Somebody from our desk is in the arrivals hall and will already know, because we watch the flight rather than the clock.

If you miss the last departure we put you on the next one and arrange a room near the airport. The room is at your cost and we will tell you what it is before we book it.

What does half board actually include

Breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet with eggs cooked to order; dinner is a set menu with a choice of two mains, one of which is always reef fish landed that morning.

Tea, coffee, water and soft drinks come with the meals. Lunch is ordered separately and added to the room, and a packed lunch goes out with you on any boat trip.

Can the kitchen cope with allergies and with children

Yes, and the way to make sure of it is to tell us when you book rather than on the first evening. There is one kitchen and it orders once a week from the supply boat.

Plain rice, roshi, chicken and pasta are always available for children at any sitting. There is a highchair and a cot at no charge.

Is there a doctor on the island

No. Two of the staff are trained in first aid and oxygen, and there is a health centre twenty minutes away by boat and a hospital in Malé.

Bring what you normally take. There is no pharmacy here and the supply boat comes once a week.

How good is the wifi

Good enough for messages, email and a video call that you are willing to repeat. It reaches every villa and the restaurant, and it slows down in the evening when everybody is on it.

There is no mobile signal in two of the water villas. If you need to work, the restaurant terrace is the best place on the island for it.

Send us your dates and your flight number

We answer every request the same day and nothing is paid on this website.

Or write to us first

Ask before you book

We reply to every message. Leave a phone number if you would rather we called.
