Channels with current, a cleaning station in season, and the reason our profiles are conservative.
Faafu is quieter than the atolls either side of it and the sites we use most have two or three boats on them rather than twelve.
The channel on the eastern rim runs hard on the falling tide and that is where the grey reef sharks are. It is a drift and it is not a first dive after two years off, which is why we ask about your last logged dive and why we will put you in the lagoon for a refresher if the answer is vague.
The cleaning station on the outer reef has mantas from about May to November depending on the year. Nobody can promise you a manta and we do not.
Two thilas inside the atoll are the ones guests remember: shallow tops at twelve metres, soft coral on the overhangs, and enough fish life that a whole dive goes past without leaving one corner.
Our profiles are conservative on purpose. There is one recompression chamber in the country and it is a long way from here. Nitrox is available and we recommend it for anybody doing two dives a day for a week.
