What it costs

A service here is a price and not an estimate, because a service is known work: known oil, a known filter, a known set of checks and a known length of time on the ramp. A service costs what the form says.
A repair is different and we will say so to your face rather than in small print. On a bike that has spent six years in this air, a bolt can shear while it is being undone and a corroded bracket can come apart in somebody's hand. Nobody can see that in advance, not us and not you, and it changes the number. So a repair booking buys the strip and the look, and the figure comes after it.
When a job grows we stop and ring you. Every time, whatever the size of it, even when it is forty rufiyaa, because the customer who is rung about forty rufiyaa never has to wonder about four hundred.
The old parts go in a bag with your plate number on it and they are on the counter when you pay. Belts especially: a worn belt next to a new one is the most convincing thing in this workshop.
Two hours in the wash bay, and the most undersold booking on this page.
Salt does not wash off a bike in the rain. It sits in the frame tubes, under the floor panel, in the wiring connectors, around the exhaust mounts, inside the wheel rims and in every bolt head, and it keeps working all year. A bike here at six years old often has more rust than a bike somewhere cold has at fifteen.
So: panels off, the frame and the underside washed properly with fresh water and a degreaser, dried with air, every electrical connector opened, cleaned and greased, the exhaust mounts and footrest brackets wire brushed and treated, the frame tubes sprayed inside with a wax that creeps, the wheel rims cleaned out and the chain or belt cover emptied of the sand it has been collecting.
We will also tell you honestly what is already too far gone. On a bike that has never had this done, there is usually one bracket that has to be replaced rather than saved, and you get that figure before we touch it.
Do it once a year and a scooter lasts twice as long here. That is not a sales line, it is the difference between the bikes we see at eight years old.
