The whole product is predictability. Your street has a slot inside the seven to eleven window and the crew keeps to it within about twenty minutes, which is enough to put the bin out after Fajr and go to work.
The route is published on the noticeboard at the yard and it changes about twice a year, when a new street joins or a lane is dug up. When it changes, every household on the affected streets is told a week before rather than discovering it.
What breaks a route is a truck off the island for repair, and there is no way to hide that. On those mornings we telephone the shops and put a note on the noticeboard, and the day comes off the invoice.
