A guesthouse brought back from failure to failure

Fourteen units on an island, a card started for each, and a plan to replace two a year instead of five at once.

Fourteen units in a guesthouse on an island, all installed in the same year, all unserviced for three, and two of them already dead at the start of a season.

The pattern with a building like this is that everything fails at once, because everything was installed at once and has had the same life. The guesthouse had been replacing units as they died, in the middle of the season, at a rush price and with a room out of service for two days each time.

We serviced all fourteen over two days, repaired four, replaced the two that were beyond it, and started a card for every unit with its own condition written on it. From that we gave the owner a replacement order: which two units to replace next year, which two the year after, and which four are good for five more. The work happens in the quiet weeks now rather than in the middle of a season.

We visit twice a year, which on an island means a planned trip with all the parts on the boat rather than a call out. It is a different arrangement from the Malé contracts and it is written down as one.
