Serviced properly, or we will tell you why it cannot be fixed
Coil washing, gas, repairs and installation for homes, offices and shops. Every visit ends with a written note of what we found, including the things we did not charge you to fix.
Four things that separate a service from a wash
We find the leak
A unit that needs gas has a leak. Topping it up is not a repair, it is a way of selling you gas three times a year, and we will say so.
Salt air is the real enemy
Within two hundred metres of the sea a condenser coil needs washing every three months. Further in, twice a year is enough.
A written note every visit
What we checked, what we found, what it will need next and when. Kept on file so the next visit is not a fresh guess.
A price before the work
Diagnosis is 250 rufiyaa and it comes off the repair. Nothing is opened up and then priced.
Six kinds of call, one van
From a 350 rufiyaa service wash to a whole office of twenty units on a contract.
Service and coil washing
350 rufiyaa a split unit, or 250 each for three or more in the same visit.
Fault finding and repair
Diagnosis is 250 rufiyaa and comes off the repair. A price is given before anything is done.
Gas recovery and recharging
900 rufiyaa for a proper recovery and recharge by weight, after the leak has been found.
Installation
A twelve thousand unit installed for 1,200 rufiyaa in labour plus materials, with the pipe run agreed first.
Annual contracts
1,200 rufiyaa a unit a year: four services, priority response and small parts included.
Office and shop fit outs
A whole floor designed, supplied and installed, with a load calculation rather than a guess.
The workshop in numbers
Recent work
An office of twenty two units whose bill fell by a fifth, a leak three companies had topped up instead of finding, and a shop fitted out in a week.
An office of twenty two units, and a fifth off the bill
Two floors that had never had the outdoor coils washed, brought onto a contract with the visits booked in the diary.
A leak three companies had topped up
A bedroom unit that had been gassed four times in two years, and the eleven millimetres of corroded pipe that caused it.
A shop fitted out in a week
Six units for a shop with the door open to the street, and the conversation about why capacity was not the answer.
What customers say
Nineteen of our twenty two outdoor coils had never been properly washed. They did the whole floor over two evenings and our electricity for that floor fell by about a fifth.
Three companies had gassed the same unit four times in two years. These people put it on a nitrogen gauge for an hour, found a corroded pipe and told us the unit was not worth repairing. Nobody else had even said the word leak.
I asked for more cooling and they told me it would not work with the door open, then walked me to another shop to show me an air curtain. I was annoyed for a day and grateful for two years.
What people ask on the telephone
How often should a unit be serviced here?
Within about two hundred metres of the sea, the outdoor coil needs washing every three months. Further into Malé, twice a year is enough, and four times if the unit runs more than eight hours a day.
Salt is the reason. It settles on the fins, holds moisture, and forms a crust that stops the unit rejecting heat, so the compressor runs longer for less cooling.
What does a service include, and what does it cost?
Filters cleaned, indoor coil washed, drain line cleared and flushed, outdoor coil washed, electricals checked, gas pressure read and the air temperature measured at the grille.
350 rufiyaa for one split unit, 250 each for three or more in the same visit, 450 for a ceiling cassette. Every visit ends with a written note of what we found.
Is a contract worth it?
For three units or more, usually yes. 1,200 rufiyaa a unit a year covers four scheduled visits, a four hour response in working hours and the small parts.
The real value is that the visits are in the diary rather than requested. A contract you have to remember to use is a contract where the coil gets washed the week after the unit stops cooling.
Tell us how many units and where
That is enough for a price. For a fault, tell us what it is doing rather than what you think is wrong, and we will bring the right parts.
Book a service or report a fault
Give us the number of units, the floor and a telephone number that answers. We call back the same day.
