New units installed, old units moved, and replacements fitted to existing pipework where the pipework is fit to reuse.
Labour for a standard split installation is 1,200 rufiyaa plus materials, and we quote the materials separately and by the metre so you can see what the pipe run costs. We will supply the unit or fit one you have bought, at the same labour rate either way.
Sizing first. In Malé, with concrete walls and afternoon sun, reckon on about nine thousand units of capacity for a small bedroom, twelve thousand for a normal one and eighteen for a living room with a west facing window. An undersized unit runs constantly and never gets there. An oversized one cools fast, switches off, and leaves the room damp because it never runs long enough to take the moisture out, which is why an oversized unit feels clammy.
Then the outdoor unit, which is where installations go wrong. It needs air on three sides, it must not be under a window somebody sleeps beside, and it must be above the height a person walks past, because the air off it is forty degrees. Salt exposure matters too: on a seaward wall, expect to wash the coil four times a year and expect the casing to show rust in three.
We agree the pipe run and the outdoor position with you before drilling anything.
