Import records can be examined years later, and the question is never about the cargo. It is about whether the declarations were right and whether you can show it.
We review historic declarations for importers, our own and other agents', and tell you what we find. Where something was declared wrongly the right move is nearly always to correct it voluntarily rather than to wait, and the difference in outcome between a voluntary correction and a discovered error is large.
We also fix the cause rather than the entry. Most repeated errors come from one supplier's invoice format or one product line nobody ever classified properly, and they will keep happening until somebody changes the form.
For importers with no agent of record we will reconstruct a file from what exists, and we will tell you honestly when the answer is that the records are not there.
