Leave the bags, walk to the water, and come back for a shower. What it actually costs.
A long layover here is a much better day than a long layover in most places, and almost nobody arrives knowing that.
Start with the bags. Leave them in the locked room behind our desk. That is free for anybody who has stayed with us or is going to, and there is no time limit on the day.
Then walk to the beach. It is four minutes from the door, the water is shallow and warm, and there is shade by the middle of the afternoon. Towels to borrow at the desk. Please cover your shoulders and knees on the walk; this is somebody's home island rather than a resort.
Eat at one of the cafes on the beach road. A plate of rice and reef fish is a fraction of the terminal price and about four times better.
If you have six hours or more and want to see the capital, the bus from the main road takes about twenty five minutes and runs every ten minutes. Under six hours we would say stay here, and the desk will say so rather than call you a taxi.
Then come back for the shower. Two hours with a bed, a towel, an iron and a mirror is one hundred and ninety rufiyaa, and it is the difference between boarding a night flight feeling human and boarding it feeling like luggage.
All of that with the car both ways included. It is the cheapest good day anybody has near an airport.
