Ninety guests on a sandbank, which is the most beautiful place to get married in this country and the least forgiving to plan for.
Everything was governed by the tide. The usable window was from four in the afternoon to a little after nine, so the schedule was written backwards from the water rather than from the meal. Two boats ran the guests in twenty minute shuttles, the generator and the lighting went over at noon with the crew, and every item was on a trolley that could be moved by two people at speed.
We told the couple in writing that the evening had to end at nine and why. It ended at ten past, the last boat left at twenty past, and the bank was bare an hour later with nothing of ours left on it.
