A staff routine for a guesthouse team

Nine staff in and out of salt water daily, on one shared routine and a quarterly box.

A guesthouse whose staff swim, dive or work on a boat most days, and whose hair had been quietly destroyed over two seasons.

The manager asked for nine individual recommendations. We suggested one routine instead, because the problem was identical for all nine: salt drying on the hair for hours and nothing rinsing it off.

The answer was mostly not products. A fresh water rinse at the jetty, a pre swim oil on the ends, one gentle wash to share, and a mask once a week. Four items for nine people.

They collect a box every three months when somebody is in Malé. Two of the nine have since asked for their own card for coloured hair, which is exactly the right reason to depart from a shared routine.
