Documents at the counter from Sunday, a site visit on the following Tuesday, and bids opened in public on the last working day of the month.
The council invites bids for the perimeter fencing and the two vehicle gates at the new waste centre at the south end of the island.
The work. About three hundred and forty metres of chain link fencing at two metres in height on concrete posts, two vehicle gates of four metres, one pedestrian gate, and the clearing of the fence line. Materials to be supplied by the bidder. The drawings and the specification are in the tender document.
The documents. Available at the council counter from Sunday, between eight and two, for one hundred rufiyaa. Bring an identity document and the name the bid will be made in. There is no charge to look at a copy at the counter without taking one away.
The site visit. Tuesday of next week at nine in the morning at the site. Somebody from the council will be there for an hour. Attendance is not required and is strongly advised, because the fence line crosses two areas of soft ground that are obvious on site and difficult to see on a drawing.
The closing date. Bids must be at the council office in a sealed envelope by one in the afternoon on the last working day of this month. Envelopes are numbered on receipt and a receipt is issued. Anything arriving after one is returned unopened, without exception, and this council has returned bids before.
The opening. Bids are opened in public at half past two on the same day in the council hall. Bidders may attend and so may any resident. Each price is read out and written on the board as it is opened.
What we look at. Price, the time quoted for the work, and whether the bidder has done fencing on an island before. The council will say at the meeting which bid was accepted and why, and the decision goes in the minutes.
Questions to the office in writing before the closing date, and any answer that changes the specification will be sent to everybody who has taken a document.
