Brakes are the largest thing on these shelves and the part of the shop we are most careful about.
Pads for the common automatic scooters run from 240 to 420 rufiyaa a set depending on the friction material. Small car front pads are 620 upwards. Discs, which people replace far less often than they should, are 690 upwards for a cycle and quoted on the number for a car.
We stock two grades and we tell you which is which. The cheaper pad stops the machine perfectly well and wears faster, which is a reasonable trade for somebody doing four kilometres a day. The better pad is worth the money for anybody carrying two people and a load in traffic all day, and for every machine that comes off the ferry ramp.
What we will not do is sell you pads without asking about the disc. A pad fitted to a scored or thin disc is a new pad that lasts two months, and the second visit costs more than the conversation.
