The paperwork side of owning a vehicle, which is a larger part of the experience than anybody expects.
Included free on every machine we sell. 600 rufiyaa for a bike and 1,200 for a car where we are handling it on a sale between two other people.
What we do is prepare and lodge the documents for a registration or a transfer, check that the details on the book match the machine in front of us, and tell you what the official fees for your particular vehicle come to before anything is paid, since they depend on the vehicle rather than being one figure we can print on a page.
The part we insist on is the check. We compare the frame number and the engine number against the book, physically, every time, on every machine that passes through our hands including one going out privately. It takes two minutes. A mismatch is not always something sinister, and it is always something to resolve before money moves rather than after, because a transfer that cannot be completed later is a problem with no good solution.
We will also tell you plainly what we cannot do. We do not obtain anybody's licence for them, we do not make a vehicle roadworthy on paper that is not roadworthy in fact, and we will not put a lower figure on a document than the one that was paid. That last request comes up several times a year and the answer has always been no.
On insurance: cover is part of running a vehicle here and you should arrange it before you ride. We will not recommend a particular insurer, we take nothing from any of them, and we will happily explain the difference between the minimum cover and the fuller kind so you can choose with the facts.
