A two day conference with a press release that had to go out before midnight on the second day, which changes how a job is shot rather than how fast the editing can be done afterwards.
We asked for the five photographs they could not do without and got seven. The chief guest at the podium, the chief guest with the plaque, the full hall from the back, the panel, the signing, the group photograph of the committee, and one of the room during the tea break so that it looked attended. Every one of those was captured in the first hour it was possible, not left until later, because a conference does not repeat itself.
Editing ran alongside the event. One of us was in the hall and the other was in a side room with a laptop and a card reader, working on the morning's frames while the afternoon was happening.
Twenty edited photographs went over two hours after the closing speech. The full set of six hundred and forty followed in six days. The association has booked us for three years since and always asks for the seven again.
