Laminate is 340 rufiyaa a sheet in 0.8mm and 460 in 1mm, in about sixty patterns held in the yard with another three hundred on order at four weeks. Edge tape is 6 rufiyaa a foot in PVC.
Use 1mm on a horizontal surface and 0.8mm on a vertical one. A worktop or a table in 0.8mm shows every imperfection in the board underneath within a year, because the thinner sheet telegraphs, and it is also the thickness that chips at an edge.
Store laminate flat and use it within about a month of buying it. A rolled sheet left standing in this humidity develops a memory that fights you on the board, and a sheet that has curled will not sit down properly however much adhesive goes under it.
We keep a record of which pattern went to which job. Laminate patterns are discontinued constantly, and a customer replacing one damaged door in 2029 will want to know what we sold them, and sometimes to know that they should buy a spare sheet now.
