Freight is charged on weight and size, and a separate shipment for every parcel is where the money goes.
Everything addressed to your locker waits until you say ship. We then open the parcels, take out the outer cartons, the void fill and the marketing paper nobody wants, and repack the contents into one box packed properly.
On an ordinary month's ordering this removes between a fifth and a half of the chargeable weight, because overseas shops pack a phone case in a box that could hold a kettle. It is the least interesting thing we do and it saves customers more money than anything else.
We photograph the contents before we close the box. If something is missing from a seller's parcel, that photograph is the evidence, and it has to be taken before the box is sealed rather than after it lands here.
Fragile items keep their protection. We will tell you when removing a carton is a bad idea rather than saving you a hundred grams and breaking the thing.
