Why there is no completion date
Every few months somebody asks us to commit to a date, usually kindly and usually because another place has given them one. We will not, and it is worth explaining rather than simply refusing.
How much a student takes on between two sessions depends on their work, their household, their sleep and their reading, and all four of those change across sixteen weeks. Two men who started in the same group two years ago are in completely different places today and both of them are doing well. A date on this page would have been wrong for at least one of them from the first evening, and it would have been printed to win an enrolment rather than to inform anybody.
What we have instead is a page in the teacher's book for every student, carrying each passage recited and accepted, in the teacher's own hand. Ask for it whenever you like. It is unglamorous and it is the only honest answer to where somebody is.
The same rule governs what a teacher here will answer. We teach reading, recitation and memorisation. Questions of religious practice belong to your own scholar, and every teacher says so plainly, whoever is asking.
