What it costs

No charge Per booking

Nothing is paid on this website. You send the request, the office rings you within a day, and the place is held until the first session of the intake.

The fee for a programme is paid by bank transfer to the account named in the confirmation email, or in cash at the office on a weekday morning. A receipt carrying your enrolment reference is emailed once the money has arrived, and that reference is what the office asks for on the phone.

A programme may be paid in three parts across its sixteen weeks if that suits a household better. Ask the office when you enrol rather than after the first payment is late, because the second arrangement is easier to make than the first is to undo.

The recitation check for a new student is free. There is nothing to send and nothing to bring.

Donations are separate from fees and reach the academy the same way: a transfer to the account on the donations page, and a receipt back from the office with a reference on it. Nothing is collected on this website and nobody here takes a donation in a message.

Twenty minutes with a teacher before you commit to a sixteen week programme. Free, and there is no obligation at the end of it in either direction.

You read for a few minutes and the teacher tells you which of the two programmes fits, or tells you that neither does yet and what to do for a few months first. That last answer is given often enough that the check exists mainly to give it, because an adult who enrols in the evening programme without the reading behind it spends sixteen weeks struggling and then blames themselves.

The check is also where the practical questions get asked and answered: which evenings, how long the fee may be spread over, whether a woman will be taught by a woman, and how a student travelling in by ferry manages the timetable. Bring those questions rather than saving them for the first session.

Women are checked by a female teacher. Say so on the form and the office will put you with Ustadha Sheereen or Ustadha Hudha.
