Three of us, one desk, and no commission targets
Open since 2019 on the second floor of Orchid Magu.
Why the quote is always written out
Mariyam spent twenty two years at other people's ticket desks, and the thing she wanted to stop doing was quoting a number that grew afterwards.
So every quote from this office is written out in full before a deposit is asked for: which airline, which hotel, how many to a room, what happens on the ground, and a list of what is not included. The last list is the one that matters, and it is the one nobody else prints.
None of us works on commission. It means we will tell you the airline website is cheaper when it is, and it means the consultation fee is the only money we make from a conversation that goes nowhere.
The three of us
Mariyam Zahira
Twenty two years at a ticket desk before opening this one in 2019. Still does the awkward airline phone calls herself.
Ahmed Nashid
Travels with the groups. Knows which hotel desk will move a room and which one will not.
Fathimath Rifga
Checks every file against the list twice before it goes in, which is why so few of ours come back.
What we do and what we leave to others
What is included in the Umrah price
Return flights, the hotel nights in both cities, all transport on the ground, the visa work and a group leader from this office who travels with you.
The quote is four sharing. A twin or a single room costs more and the figure is written into the quote rather than mentioned later. Meals beyond the hotel breakfast are not included.
Will you answer religious questions
No, and we think it is important to say so. We arrange travel. A scholar chosen by the group travels with each departure and that is who those questions go to.
When will you know this season's Hajj cost
When the authorities publish the season's quota and terms, which is not a date we control. We do not estimate it in advance and we do not take money against an unpublished figure.
Get your name and papers on the list now, and we will write to everybody with the figures in full the week they are out.
