Grade one applications open on the first of October and close on the twentieth. Two hundred and forty places.
Last year there were three hundred and ninety one applications, which means this school refused a hundred and fifty one families, and the only fair way to do that is to publish the order of priority before anybody applies.
The order, in full. First, children living in the school's catchment streets, which are listed at the office and on this site. Second, children with a brother or sister already in the school. Third, children of staff. Fourth, everybody else, in the order applications were received, which is why the receipt time is printed on every acknowledgement.
The catchment beats the sibling rule, which upsets people every year and is deliberate: a school that filled on siblings first would close itself to every family moving into these streets.
What to bring: the birth record, the immunisation card, and proof of the address, which must be a tenancy paper or a utility bill and not a letter from a relative. Address claims are checked and about six a year are found to be wrong. A place obtained on a wrong address is withdrawn.
The waiting list is published in order, by application number rather than by name, and it moves: twenty two children came off it last year. Mid year entry into any grade is possible where there is a place in a class under thirty two, and the office will tell you exactly which grades are full rather than taking an application it cannot use.
