Floor and wall tiling, painting inside and out, skirting, ironmongery and fitting the joinery.
Finishes are where a building is judged, and they are also where a programme gets eaten: tile that arrives in the wrong batch, paint over plaster that was not dry, a snag list nobody closes. We set out tiling from the doorway a person walks in through rather than from the longest wall, and we hold the last five per cent of the paint for the snags.
The snag list is walked with the client twice: once when we think we are finished, and once a fortnight later, because a fortnight of living in a place finds things a walk round never does.
