Nothing is paid on this website and no card details are asked for.

The fee shown is for the appointment: the time in the chair and the dentist looking at your teeth and telling you what they see. It is not payment for a treatment and it does not commit you to one.

Anything the dentist suggests is written down and priced before it is started, on paper you keep, and you are free to say no to all of it and pay only for the appointment. Payment is at reception when you leave, in cash or by card. If you hold dental insurance, bring the card to reception before the appointment rather than after it.

Forty minutes with the hygienist: the hard deposit taken off above and just below the gum line, a polish, and a look at how you are brushing.

This one is booked in chair four, which is the hygienist's chair, so the form will only ever offer you the hours that chair is free. If chair four is full for a fortnight and chairs one to three are empty, that is not a fault in the form. It is the honest answer.

Gums that have not been cleaned for a long time can be tender for a day or two afterwards and may bleed while they settle. The hygienist will say so before starting rather than after, and if your gums are in a state where cleaning should wait, she stops and asks a dentist to look.
