The way most scent is sold is by waving a card of paper under somebody's nose while they are standing in a shop full of other smells. It sells bottles and it produces a lot of regret.
Here the paper is only the first pass. We use blotters to narrow a hundred and eighty bottles down to two or three, then those two go on your skin, one on each wrist, and you leave.
Go and do something else for an hour. Have a coffee, do your shopping, sit by the water. Then smell your own wrists somewhere that is not this shop. A scent's first ten minutes are almost nothing to do with what you will actually wear.
More than half the people who come back have changed their mind about which one they wanted, and a good number decide that neither is right, which is a perfectly good outcome and costs you nothing.
