Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, starting at half past six. Garden waste moves to Thursday only. The household fee does not change.
From the first of next month the collection round runs three mornings a week instead of two: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
The round starts at half past six at the harbour end, reaches Bodu Magu by about half past seven, and finishes on the west side by nine. If your bag was going out on Monday and Thursday, it now goes out on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Garden waste moves to Thursday only. Until now it was taken whenever there was room on the trailer, which meant cut branches sitting on the road for four days when there was not. On Thursday there is a second trailer.
The household fee stays at forty rufiyaa a month. The third morning is being paid for out of the harbour dues rather than by raising the fee, and the council decided that in the meeting of the second Monday last month. The minutes are at the office.
Two things we are asking for. Put the bag out before six in the morning rather than the afternoon before, because a bag that sits out overnight is open by daylight and the crows spread it up the road. And keep building waste off the round entirely: rubble, mattresses, old furniture and anything a man cannot lift alone is a tractor job, arranged through the office at one hundred and fifty rufiyaa a load.
The crew will be on the new days from the first. For the first fortnight they will also take bags left out on the old days, which is not a permanent arrangement and will stop after that.
Anything wrong with the collection at your house should go to the office with a reference number rather than to the crew on the road. They cannot change the round and we can.
