Some deliveries cannot wait for a circuit. A part for a generator, a delivery for a guest arriving tonight, a replacement for something that broke, a document that has to be signed today.
We keep one launch uncommitted during the day for exactly this. You ring the dispatch desk, we quote the trip as one figure with the fuel and the crew in it, and if you say yes we go.
The price depends on the distance and the sea rather than on how urgent it sounds, and we quote before we leave the jetty rather than afterwards. An urgent run to an island twenty minutes away is not an expensive thing; a run to the far end of the atoll in a rough afternoon is.
We will also tell you when an urgent run is not worth it. If your item is going out on the six o clock circuit tomorrow anyway, a launch tonight costs several hundred rufiyaa to save eleven hours, and about half the customers who ring decide against it once somebody says that plainly.
