A small exporter buying frozen product from fishermen on four islands, consolidating it at one, and losing grade on the way because the product thawed at the edges on every transfer.
Every transfer is a risk and they had five of them. We cut it to two. Our insulated hull collects from all four islands in one circuit, the product never comes out of a cold space between the fisherman's freezer and our hold, and the transfer to the Male cargo boat happens at the hub with the chill room as the buffer rather than the quay.
The important change was the hour. The circuit runs in the early morning and the Male boat is met the same afternoon, so nothing sits overnight anywhere except in a freezer.
The exporter's rejected weight at the buyer's end dropped from something they described as a normal loss to nearly nothing. They pay us more than they paid the previous arrangement and they are better off, which is the only kind of change worth making.
