Four island schools ordering the same desks and chairs, with four budgets and one obvious way to do it badly.
We brought the whole order in as a single import against one council declaration, which meant one clearance fee instead of four and one duty calculation instead of four arguments about it. The split happened at our shed, where six hundred flat packed units were sorted into four island loads and marked accordingly.
The sailing days for the four islands were three different days of the week, so the loads left us on three afternoons rather than waiting for a day that suited everybody. Two islands share a boat and their cargo travelled together.
Everything was delivered inside eleven days of clearance, ahead of the term. The council has since run two further orders the same way.
