Every consultation here is a booked time rather than a number in a queue. The form shows the times a doctor is actually free, and the confirmation email names the doctor and the room.
The reason is simple and it is not about comfort. A queue means a family with a sick child sits in a waiting room for two hours next to everybody else who is unwell. A booked time means twenty minutes in the building.
We keep two slots each morning and two each evening unbooked for the same day, which is how somebody who woke up feeling wrong can still be seen. Ring reception for those; they are not on the form.
