What it costs
350.00 Per person
For anything we do here, the figure on the booking form is what it costs when the phone is what we expect. It is an estimate until the back is off, and if the phone turns out to need more, you hear the number from us before anything is fitted.
For anything that goes to Malé in the box, there is no figure at all until the workshop has opened it. What we take at the counter is the send fee, which pays for the packing, the boat both ways and the workshop's assessment. Once they have looked, we ring you with their figure and you decide. Say no and the phone comes home on the next boat with the board untouched, and you have paid the send fee and nothing else.
We do not add anything on top of what the workshop charges for the repair. Ask to see their slip and we will show you.
Every Tuesday morning a padded box goes down to the harbour and onto the boat to Malé, and inside it are the phones this counter cannot repair.
There are twelve places in the box, which is not a marketing number: twelve is what fits with enough padding between them. You book a place for a particular Tuesday and you can see on the page which Tuesdays still have room.
Before a phone is sealed in, we do the same four things every time in front of you. It is photographed on both sides on the counter. Its condition is written on a slip, including the scratches, because a phone that comes back scratched should never be an argument. Your reference goes on the bag. And the box is weighed and listed, so if anything ever went astray we would know exactly what was in it.
What you pay now is the send fee. It covers the packing, the boat both ways and the workshop's assessment. Their repair figure comes to you by telephone from us before they do a thing, and if you say no the phone comes back on the next boat and you pay nothing more.
Normal turn around is the box out on Tuesday and the phones home the following Saturday or Sunday. In the monsoon, add a couple of days and do not believe anybody who promises otherwise.
