Three people, four benches, one microscope
Opened in 2019 doing marine electronics. Phones took over because nobody else here would open a board.
We came to phones from boat electronics
This workshop started repairing marine instruments, radios and navigation gear off boats, and that is where the whole approach came from.
A boat instrument is not a thing you replace as a module. It is one board with salt all over it, and either somebody repairs that board or the owner does without it for a month waiting on a shipment. So you learn to wash boards, to read what salt has done, and to lift a corroded component off without taking its pads with it.
Phones took over within two years, because it turned out nobody in Malé was doing that work and counter shops had drawers full of boards they had no way to help. Now half of what is on these benches arrives from another shop, we deal with the shop rather than their customer, and we do not take their customer. That is why the arrangement has lasted.
The charging is the other thing that came from boats. You pay for the look, because the look is the work, and because a shop that only gets paid when it succeeds is a shop that will find a way to succeed on a board that was finished.
What we hold to
Odds, not promises
You are told the chance in plain numbers before you spend anything.
A written note, always
What we found and why, yours to take to any other workshop.
Stop and re quote
Damage under a lifted component stops the job until you have the new figure.
