What you are booking is time under a microscope, and that is what you pay for. The assessment fee buys somebody opening the phone, taking the board out, washing it if it needs washing, and looking at it at forty times its own size until they can tell you what has died and whether it can be brought back. You pay that fee whether the answer is good news or bad news, and we would rather say so here than at the counter.
Anything beyond the assessment is quoted after the board is under the lens and never before. A price given over the telephone for a board nobody has seen is a number somebody made up. When we have looked, you get one figure and one honest opinion about the odds, and nothing is touched until you say go ahead.
If the board turns out to be beyond us, you pay the assessment and nothing else, and you get the phone back with the board in it and a written note of what we found. That note is worth having: it is what stops you paying three more shops to find out the same thing.
Payment is at the bench when you collect, in cash or by transfer.

This is a different job from a repair and it has a different aim. We are not trying to make the phone work. We are trying to make the board live for long enough, on a bench supply and sometimes with wires soldered directly to it, for the memory to be read out onto a disk. Whether that is possible depends on where the damage is, and the answer is decided by the assessment, not by how much you want it.
Be told the odds plainly before you spend this. On a board with a dead power circuit and intact memory it often works. On a board where the memory itself has been under salt water, it usually does not, and there is no second technique waiting behind the first.
We copy to a disk you bring or to one we sell you, we hand you both, and we keep nothing. Nobody here looks at what comes off, beyond checking that the file count is not zero.
