What it costs

What you are booking is time under a microscope, and that is what you pay for. The assessment fee buys somebody opening the phone, taking the board out, washing it if it needs washing, and looking at it at forty times its own size until they can tell you what has died and whether it can be brought back. You pay that fee whether the answer is good news or bad news, and we would rather say so here than at the counter.
Anything beyond the assessment is quoted after the board is under the lens and never before. A price given over the telephone for a board nobody has seen is a number somebody made up. When we have looked, you get one figure and one honest opinion about the odds, and nothing is touched until you say go ahead.
If the board turns out to be beyond us, you pay the assessment and nothing else, and you get the phone back with the board in it and a written note of what we found. That note is worth having: it is what stops you paying three more shops to find out the same thing.
Payment is at the bench when you collect, in cash or by transfer.
One Saturday morning session, eight places, and each place is twenty minutes with the phone open on the bench and somebody telling you what they can see.
This exists because of a conversation we were having thirty times a month. Somebody arrives with a phone that went in the sea last month, having charged it four times to see, and the assessment they are about to pay for is going to end in bad news. They would rather have known.
So in the clinic we open it, look at the board with the naked eye and a loupe, and tell you which of three things you are looking at: worth a full assessment, probably not worth it but your choice, or finished. No ultrasonic bath, no microscope bench, no repair, and no pressure at the end of it.
Pick a session from the dates on the booking page. The fee is a fifth of an assessment and it comes off the assessment if you book one on the day.
Come with the phone switched off. If you have been charging it to see whether it comes on, say so; it changes what we are looking for and we are not going to tell you off.
