A kitchen shop's standing monthly order

Cut parts for about nine kitchens a month, delivered twice a week, bundled by job.

A kitchen shop making around nine kitchens a month out of a workshop with one saw and no space, who decided to stop cutting their own carcasses.

They send us a cutting list per kitchen. We cut, edge, drill for shelves and bundle the parts by job with a label, and deliver twice a week on fixed days. Their workshop now assembles and sprays rather than cutting, which they tell us took about a third off their build time per kitchen.

The thing that made this work was the fixed days. An arrangement where cutting arrives when somebody remembers to send a list is an arrangement that collapses in month three. Lists in by Sunday evening are delivered Tuesday, lists in by Wednesday evening are delivered Thursday, and that has not changed in two years.

About eleven thousand cuts last year. Two bundles have gone out wrong, both of ours, both replaced inside a day.
