Vilu Speed Ferry Male to Himmafushi and Huraa, six sailings a week each way
About us

One boat in 2014, three now

A scheduled route, run by the people who skipper it.

Why the counter and the website never disagree

For the first years the seat list lived in the counter clerk's head and on a paper sheet, and roughly once a fortnight somebody was sold a seat that had already gone. That is a passenger standing on a jetty at six in the morning with a bag, and there is no good way to fix it at that point.

So every sailing now carries its own seat count in one system, and the counter is looking at exactly the list you are looking at. It is why a boat on this website can tell you it is full, which no paper timetable has ever managed.

The rest is unchanged. Zahir makes the weather call at five, the boats leave on the timetable, and a cancelled ticket is refunded in full or moved to the next boat, whichever the passenger prefers. Never a credit note.

Two rules on these boats

The boat does not wait

We have held a sailing for a hospital case. For nothing else, ever, however sorry we are about it.

The skipper decides

On a marginal day he slows down and we take the delay. On a bad one nothing leaves the harbour.

Who you will meet
