What it costs

Pay at the counter before boarding, in cash or by transfer. A transfer sent the night before is fine and the reference is your receipt.
Seats are numbered on the boat and given out at the jetty in the order the bookings came in. Families and anybody travelling with a small child are seated together first, before anything else is allocated.
From the harbour on the north side of the island, not from the beach jetty, which is the single thing visitors get wrong. Somebody at the counter will point you at it and it is a six minute walk.
The early boat is the one working people take and it fills first, sometimes a week ahead in the school holidays. The middle of the day sailings are usually half empty and are the ones to aim for if you can choose.
Thirty five to fifty minutes depending on the sea. If your onward plan is a flight, take a boat that lands at least three hours before it, because the one thing we cannot do anything about is the weather.
