Two piece suits, blazers and waistcoats. From 3,800 rufiyaa in our cloth, or 2,400 for the making if you bring your own.
Three weeks and two fittings. The first fitting is at the basted stage, when the jacket is held together loosely and can still be changed anywhere; the second is for sleeve length and the trouser break. Anybody who promises you a suit in four days is promising you a jacket with no fitting in it.
We will steer you on cloth. A heavy wool suit is a beautiful thing in a cold country and a punishment here. What works in Malé is a light wool blend or a wool and linen mix at around 240 grams, and a half lined jacket rather than a fully lined one, which nobody sees and everybody feels.
Suits are mostly ordered for weddings, graduations and court appearances, and all three have fixed dates. Come four weeks ahead if the date cannot move.
