Eleven wardrobes for a guesthouse between seasons

Eleven rooms fitted out in nineteen days on an island, with everything cut here and assembled there.

Eleven guest rooms needing wardrobes, bedside units and a luggage shelf each, in the gap between two seasons, on an island.

Everything was made here and shipped as flat parts, labelled by room, with the hardware in a box per room. Assembling on the island rather than shipping finished carcasses roughly halved the volume on the boat and removed the risk of a finished unit arriving with a crushed corner, which on a two sailing schedule cannot be put right in time.

Two of our carpenters went over for nine days and assembled and fitted all eleven rooms. The guesthouse kept two rooms in use throughout by working room by room rather than floor by floor, which cost us two extra days and kept their occupancy up.

Melamine carcasses with laminate faced doors, stainless hinges throughout rather than plain steel, which on an island forty metres from the water is not optional. The extra cost across eleven rooms was about nine hundred rufiyaa and it is why those hinges will still be working in 2033.

Nineteen days from the first parts leaving the workshop. Both seasons opened on time.
