Oils are the part of hair care with the most tradition attached to them and the most nonsense, and both are worth separating.
What is true: oil applied before washing, on the lengths and ends, genuinely reduces how much water swells the strand and reduces the damage that comes with it. Coconut oil is unusually good at this and that is a measured thing, not a story.
What is not true: that oil feeds a scalp, that it produces new hair, or that leaving it on overnight every night is better. Heavy oil sitting on a warm scalp in this climate is how a good many of the flaking complaints in this shop started.
So we sell oils in small bottles, we tell you to put them on the ends and not the roots, we tell you an hour before washing is plenty, and we tell you that hot oil left on overnight under a towel is a tradition rather than a treatment.
We do not stock any oil that claims to regrow hair. There are several on the market here and they do not.
