A load from Male arrives as one consignment for several islands, and somebody has to break it down. Done on a quay, that is the part where cargo gets mixed up, left behind and rained on.
We do it in a shed. Male cargo is received against the manifest, checked, sorted by island and drop, marked, and staged for the next circuit. Chilled goods go into the chill room rather than standing in the open, which is the single biggest cause of a cold chain failure on the last leg.
Anything that does not match the manifest is reported the same day with a photograph, which means a shortage is found at the hub rather than by a shopkeeper two islands later with no way to prove anything.
Storage is free for three days and charged by the pallet per week after that. Most cargo is in and out inside a day.
