Medicine is chilled cargo with consequences, so we handle it separately from everything else.
Cold chain medicines travel in a dedicated box with its own logger, pre chilled, packed so nothing touches the gel directly, and delivered inside an agreed window rather than at some point on a Wednesday. The record goes to the pharmacist with the consignment.
We will not carry a cold chain medicine on a trip where we cannot keep it inside range, and we would rather refuse a load at the desk than deliver something that has to be thrown away. That has happened four times in eight years, all four in the middle of the day in April, and every one was the right call.
Controlled and prescription items are handed to a named pharmacist or nurse against an identity check, never to a relative, never to a quay, and never left with a note.
